What is Internet Marketing?

What is internet MarketingWe tell a lot of people that we’re internet marketers. But, what does that mean exactly? What is internet marketing? What do you really need to know?

There are many definitions for internet marketing. Normally I’d try to simplify things, like I would do for one of my friends or family members. But, I know you’re interested in internet marketing, and you want some details — that’s why you’re here.

So, I’ll start with a few simple ideas then I’ll build up. In many respects, internet marketing is simply another way of saying online marketing, online business, or work-at-home internet business. The core idea is that you’re using a computer and an internet connection to generate money.

Not Just Work from Home

You don’t have to work at home to be an internet marketer. Many IM’ers, as they are called, work for large organizations, marketing companies, and research firms. The central idea is that internet marketers do marketing online, usually in an effort to advertise, pull in buyers, and ultimately sell products and services.

So, here are the two key ideas summarized:

  • Most of the work is done online via the web
  • Most of the work is marketing and sales related

As a quick aside, internet marketing isn’t only about search engine optimization (SEO), Google Adwords, or any other particular technology. Yes, technology is always in the mix, but internet marketing is more about the tactics, strategies, and methods to do business online.

The bottom line is that you don’t want to be fooled into thinking that internet marketing is one single thing. It’s a complex clustering of tools and techniques. And, internet marketers pick and choose what works best for them. Some internet marketers use 1-2 tools whereas others use the full spectrum. There’s not one secret or special technique which works for all internet marketers.

But, there’s more…

It’s All About Making Money Online

The heart of internet marketing is the set of actions and activities that make money for businesses, online and offline. In other words, when internet marketers talk about internet marketing, they care about one thing: making money.

Now, this might seem obvious, but internet marketers are both extremely focused and easily distracted. They are constantly looking for the Holy Grail of online cash: very little work, very high profits, and freedom.

Internet marketers therefore employ a number of tools and techniques to make money online. To make everything clear, I’ll provide several examples for you.

7 Internet Marketing Examples

eBay — Many internet marketers have used eBay as their key platform to make money online. Not only can they make money via auctions they can also use eBay to drive traffic to their sites. It’s also possible to build a customer list with eBay.

Article Marketing — With article marketing the idea is to write articles to make money. The “trick” is that you have an author bio box or author resource box. In that author credit box, you include links to your sites (e.g., sales pages, sign up pages, and so on). You can get traffic directly from article directories or from blogs and sites when people syndicate your content.

Affiliate Marketing — The concept of affiliate marketing is that you sell products for other people but you get a commission. Internet marketers often get at least 50% of the profits, but some internet marketers offer 70% commission or more.

Pay Per Click (PPC) — This is a way of driving traffic to a site via advertising. In most cases you bid on “keywords” which are the words and phrases people use to find content on search engines. The mother of all PPC systems is Google Adwords. The amount you pay per keyword or key phrase can range from just $0.01 per click through $50 or more.

Memberships — This is a more advanced internet marketing technique. You can set up a membership or club on a topic and then charge customers a fee for access. Usually memberships operate on a monthly basis, i.e., customers pay for access month by month. Although this is typically seen an an advanced online marketing technique, there are ways to set up simple memberships. Autoresponder memberships are a great example of simple yet effective memberships.

Offline Marketing — Internet marketers often make a lot of money by selling their services to small, local businesses. They still use online tactics to drive traffic, encourage people to make a purchase. Internet marketers can work with businesses offline on a pay-per-lead basis, setting up web 2.0 and social media tools, and more.

Private Label Rights (PLR) — Private label rights are “whitelabel” products, which means that the buyer has near complete control over the product. For example, you can purchase PLR products, do a little re-writing, and call the product your own in many cases. PLR is often affordable and effective. (Highly Recommended: Simple PLR Club)

We Keep It Simple

There are many other tools and strategies that comprise internet marketing. Honestly, I’ve only touched on the surface. I’ve kept this relatively jargon free and I tried to stay away from concepts like keyword analysis, squeeze pages, conversion ratios, web metrics, and the like.

We encourage people to try many different things but then focus once you see any money flow. Highly Recommended: Watch the free 10x Method video.

Want to Create a Membership Site?

Posted on June 24th, 2008 in Advice, Affiliate Program, Customers, Free Business Model, Links, PLR Club, Simple Cash Blog, Strategies, Videos | No Comments »

if you want to create a membership site you do not need expensive software. In fact, you can do it using basic tools.

If you don’t believe me, take a look at the Free Business Model video. In that free video, you’ll find out that it doesn’t take more than a PayPal account and an autoresponder.

That’s right…

You can fill up an autoresponder then sell access to your high quality emails. The reason is that people are willing to pay for good information. It doesn’t matter if it comes from a blog or via email. All that matters is that the information flows.

Now, if you want something a bit more sophisticated, you can buy the very affordable Instant Membership Site Creator.

If you want to easily create a memberhship site, it’s a no brainer. You can password protect pages, create a simple signup form, automatically create unique user IDs and passwords, and even build up your list. The Instant Membership Site Creator makes it deadly simple.

So, those are two simple ways to create membership web sites. It really isn’t that hard. Even if you’re just getting started in internet marketing, it can be pretty easy. And imagine how much money you can pull in from members outside of internet marketing. It’s really quite easy.

Here are a few example membership web sites to get your creative juices flowing:

By the way, after you create a membership site, you can create affiliates out of thin air. Well, not literally, but you can really get some folks excited since memberships offer residual income. Affiliates love that.

Here’s the Simple Cash Blog affiliate program as an example for you. The beauty of this affiliate program is that you don’t have to sell anything. You just sign up and then send people to a totally free video. The conversions on this are obviously huge. Everyone wins.

So, if you’re thinking about creating a membership site, you know exactly what to expect. It’s all about having the right information. It doesn’t have to be hard. And, it should certainly fill your pockets with cash.

3-Step Autoresponder Profits

Posted on April 13th, 2008 in Adsense, Customers, Free Business Model, Simple, Strategies | No Comments »

Today I made over $80 from a small list. About 3 weeks ago I wrote up 2 messages. The first one was 99% pure content; full of advice. The second one was about 80% advice and 20% soft selling. I’m seeing excellent conversions in large part due to the amount of free content I provided. My subscribers are very satisfied.

Sidebar: We recommend AWeber if you haven’t picked an autoresponder system. It’s top notch.

My point is that this would not be possible without autoresponders. I put in some work a few weeks ago, when I about an hour of spare time, and now I easily made $80. There’s more to come, too. Many people on my list haven’t even made it to these two messages.

If you’re new to internet marketing keep these three things in mind:

1. Build your list (there are so many ways to do this)
2. Keep adding free content to your autoresponder
3. Keep adding valuable marketing messages to your autoresponder

Over time, this will make you money on “autopilot” — we make a lot of money by using this time-tested 3-part system.

Is it instant? No way! It takes time to build a list, but you can do it easily enough. And, does it take effort? Absolutely! But, you can spread the work over many days and months. You’ll be rewarded — like The Rhodes Brothers have been — over time.

Oh, and one last thing. You can completely eliminate the “work” part of the system. That is, you can add content to an autoresponder that you have already posted on your blog. You can simply point to the blog entry in fact. You can also exploit your PLR. Buy the right content for a fair price, massage it a little, and add it to your autoresponder series. Your list will love you for it.

Sidebar: Have you seen the PLR Model blog? (Tons of free information about using PLR.)

My final point is that “classic systems” will generate side money at first, like paying down your credit cards. Then, before you know it,  you’ll have cash to go on vacation. Then, you’ll be buying cars and trucks for cash. And your mortgage will be gone, and you’ll be working for yourself. In a few short years — or sooner! — you’ll even be able to make the decision to hire people if you want.

~ John

p.s. You’re not entitled to success. You have to plan a little, then put in the time and effort. Or, pay someone else to give you a jump start. But, I can say with absolute certainty that anyone can use lists and autoresponder messages to build a business. I’ve been doing it for a while now, along with many other simple systems.

p.p.s. We discuss many systems just like this inside the Simple Cash Blog. If you’re looking for simple models, and if you’re looking to succeed like so many of our students, take advantage of the Simple Cash Blog right now. Or, if you’d like to see another free business model using autoresponders then you absolutely MUST head over to FreeBusinessModel.com — it’s a totally free video that explains  autoresponder memberships.

Affiliate Marketing Business Model

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Affiliate Program, Clickbank, Customers, Free Business Model, News, Reports, Simple Cash Blog, Videos | No Comments »

Just a few months ago we opened up a new affiliate program for the Simple Cash Blog. What we did was really quite simple, but very few people are using the tactic I’m going to describe. Pay attention if you are setting up your own affiliate program or if you do affiliate marketing because this system works.

First, we set up a very powerful membership site. In this case, I’m talking about the Simple Cash Blog. If you look at the sales page, you’ll see how much value we offer for a very fair price. This is a membership which currently includes over 25 high quality downloads, nearly 70 long blog postings, and a forum to support it all. There are nearly 1,000 postings in the forum and hundreds of members. My point is that the membership is high quality. You know, something you can feel good about promoting.

Second, we set entirely different domain as a front end specifically for affiliates. We set up the Free Business Model web site which includes two videos that talk about autoresponder membership sites. This is 100% free content. The first video is absolutely free and available to anyone to view.

I’m going to pause for a moment here. You’re probably wondering why we set up a web site with free videos. Specifically, you’re wondering how these free videos would benefit affiliates. These are good questions and the answers below will show you why our affiliates are making a killing.

The third thing we did was set up a new folder specifically for Clickbank. That is, we set up a special sales page specially for selling via Clickbank versus PayPal or other methods. Here’s the Simple Cash Blog Clickbank sales page. If you look at that page, you’ll notice zero differences between that page and the regular page except you can only order via Clickbank. So, to make sure this is clear — we set up a basic affiliate program through Clickbank and dedicated a page to it.

The fourth thing we did was used DLGuard and HopGuard to set up secure affiliate links for our affiliates. I can’t show you the special Simple Cash Blog affiliate system, but I can point you to our IMsimple.com affiliates page. As you can see on that page, all you do is drop in your Clickbank ID and you’re all set to start selling Rhodes Brothers products. Now, imagine that but instead, all you do is point to a free video.

That’s the secret. Let me explain that last part, because it’s probably not totally clear…

We point our affiliates to an affiliate sign up page. On that page (like the IMsimple.com affiliates page I just mentioned), an affiliate would simply drop in their Clickbank affiliate ID. We then autogenerate a special, secure affiliate link tied to Clickbank. The special URL we generate for affiliates looks like this:

http://imsimple.com/hg/?a=qUhiBMhT&p=23

If you click on that link above, you’ll go to FreeBusinessModel.com and you’ll be tagged. That means you’ll have a cookie set. You’ll get to watch a high quality video for free as I described above.

Unfortunately, I’m going to leave you with a cliffhanger..

There’s more I could say at this point but I have to keep a couple of secrets. The rest of the story is inside the Simple Cash Blog members area. I explain this entire model to members, plus they have easy access to our special affiliate program.

Now, get a load of this. We’re launching a completely new product that is going to be huge. We’re going to use exactly the same model I described above but more. We’re giving our affiliates even more tools, more opportunities, and 1-to-1 help.

We’re going to be giving you a $30 commission. It’s a 70% commission on a high quality $47 product that you’ll feel really good about promoting. You can act quickly to hit your list before we do, and before your competitors do. We love affiliates — seriously, we know how important you are. That’s why we’re forking over $30 for each sale.

I can’t give away more about the product. Well, maybe a little more…

Hint: The product is all about private label rights (PLR). We explain exactly how to “exploit PLR” — customers will see how to turn their PLR into cash. We’re going to explain how it is done, step-by-step.

We’re going to give affiliates a chance to make a killing by simply giving away a free high quality video. I encourage you to join the Simple Cash Blog to really get all the information. But, if you want to just be an affiliate, contact us.

~ John S. Rhodes of “The Rhodes Brothers”

p.s. I strongly encourage you to follow what’s going on at the PLRmodel.com blog.  There is a ton of absolutely free content about PLR on that blog. It’s the place to learn more about PLR right now, and it’s part of the secret product launch of our PLR product. Not many people know about it… (Hint: Smart affiliates will watch that blog!)

Internet Marketing of Tourism Products

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 in Advice, Affiliate Program, Clickbank, Free Business Model, Strategies, Web Traffic | No Comments »

Here’s a great, totally free formula you can take to the bank to take advantage of a really hot niche…

One of the most lucrative, but overlooked niches, is the marketing of tourism products. It’s one niche that isn’t a “fad,” and isn’t going to die out anytime soon. People will always want to vacation, right?

Now, there’s lots of ways we can take advantage of that. First though, it’s really important we build a list. What exactly should we offer up on the squeeze page to build our list? There’s a wealth of possibilities…

*How to get free extra nights during your vacation
*Cheaper, low cost, or free meals during your vacation
*Free activities/events during your vacation
*Getting a 5 star resort at a 2 star price

..essentially, anything that would prolong a tourist’s vacation, make it cheaper or more enjoyable is a perfect squeeze page topic. You’d have people signing up by the bucket full.

Well, I made a post a couple weeks back called “31 Ways To Drive Traffic And Build Your List“. That mentions a lot of ways to generate traffic to your squeeze page and website. Here are some ideas to throw out at you, though…

*Go to travel forums, and post constructive comments with a link to your squeeze page in your signature. (There are massive forums for Walt Disney World vacations.)

*Try to go for Search Engine Optimization, find long tail keywords and absolutely dominate them with an assortment of pages: Squidoo, Hubpages, Googlepages, and so on. You’re bound to hit the first page for some of the long tail keywords through massive action.

*Find lucrative PPC keywords, and bid low amounts on them. Convert the traffic into leads for your list.

There’s tons of other ways, obviously, but that alone should easily get you started. Once you’ve built a sizable list and you’re providing them with free, high quality content on a regular basis, it’s time to setup some autopilot cash pumps.

You’ll want to go to Commission Junction and Clickbank and find affiliate programs that are related to the travel niche. There’s tons of programs at this places, from travel guides on Clickbank to pay per lead travel programs on Commission Junction.

Just start plugging these programs into autoresponder messages and you’ll start to see the money flow into your account automatically on a daily basis. Drive more and more traffic to your squeeze page, as much as you can, because the more people you have, the harder your pumps can work.

If you start to get tremondously successful, then you should start creating your own programs, instead of getting commissions for promoting others. You can find PLR related to travel quite easily, put together a report and sell it. Or, better yet, create an autoresponder membership. Put together a few weeks worth of content, a sales letter, and watch the monthly cash flow in…

Once you build the list, you can do pretty much anything. And the travel niche is a really powerful and lucrative niche that is going to continue to explode in growth, giving you a constant flow of willing customers.
