Which Press Release Do You Like Better?

Posted on January 16th, 2008 in Customers, Links, News, Really Simple Method | No Comments »

I wrote up two press releases about The Really Simple Method.

Editor’s Note: As I wrote about earlier today, we’ve helped over 2,000 people make money on the internet. The Really Simple Method is compelling because we provide value and the ecourse is free.

In any event, to spread the word about The Really Simple Method, I wrote up two press releases: short version, long version. Both are posted below. Which one do you like better? Why?

Sidebar: I’m looking for great press releases to do a better job. Good examples are very hard to find, that is certain.

LONG VERSION

John S. Rhodes writes, “The Really Simple Method is a free ecourse on internet marketing that we created back in July 2007. When we launched it, we never expected to reach more than 500 people. However, just a few days ago we passed the 2,000 member milestone.”

Unlike many other ecourses on internet marketing, The Really Simple Method does not cost anything. Furthermore, it includes two high quality videos.

The Rhodes Brothers show you how to upload files to a web site using a free FTP tool, step by step. They also show you how to create a PayPal “Buy Now” button. But there’s more, including advice on how to buy and sell the right products to make money online.

Many of the 2,000+ members have provided positive feedback about The Really Simple Method. John S. Rhodes explains, “Everyone loves a good deal. This one is hard to pass up. We clearly explain how to make money on the internet using a tried-and-true method and it’s free. How can anyone turn that offer down? No wonder it gets great reviews.”

John S. Rhodes continues, “We clearly explain how to make money on the internet using a tried-and-true method, and it’s free. That explains the growth. How can anyone turn this offer down?”

Really Simple Method — Update

Posted on January 16th, 2008 in Advice, Customers, Really Simple Method, Simple, Strategies | No Comments »

A few days ago I wrote Planting the Seeds of Wealth. I was talking to my brother about the article and he got very mad at me.

He told me that I was a liar!

As it turns out we’ve helped a lot of people with The Really Simple Method. I stated in Planting the Seeds of Wealth that we had 730 registered members. But, that isn’t even close.

We have well over 2,100 registered members. Although this makes me a “liar” it also means that we’ve helped thousands of people get started with internet marketing.

Why have over 2,100 registered? Simple. We give people a realistic process to follow to make money online in very little time. We give away some “secrets” but there’s more.

Inside The Really Simple Method, we give members access to 2 free videos: How to Set Up a PayPal Button as well as How to Use FileZilla to Upload Files to Your Webhost. Again, just by joining this FREE ecourse, you get access to these videos.

I know if seems like it, I’m not really trying to sell The Really Simple Method. It’s now a very small part of our internet marketing empire. I’m writing this to tell you that you can plant “seeds” that continue to grow and grow.

We’ve been able to help over 2,100 members. That’s obviously good for them, but it also provides clear evidence that you can create an busienss asset that will continue to provide value months — or even years — after you create it.

I would also strongly recommend that you work hard to create real, long-term assets. Don’t just shoot for short term cash, unless you re-invest that cash into assets that generate long term wealth.

It’s too easy to burn out if you keep working for short term cash. You want many funnels of cash, that provide value to you on autopilot. Balance is key.

Planting the Seeds of Wealth

Posted on January 14th, 2008 in Affiliate Program, Customers, Really Simple Method, Simple, Strategies | 1 Comment »

I just wanted to let some folks know — especially “new” folks — that your effort today will probably pay off in the future. You’re investing in your future, if you’re doing things right.

Two examples…

A long time ago, I set up a free course with my brother. The purpose was to help educate people on a topic but to also build our own list.

Editor’s Note: Here’s a similar ecourse — The Really Simple Method

Well, over time, that ecourse has generated about 730 list members. And, these folks are pretty loyal to us since we offered up great information for free — just their name and email.

Editor’s Note: High quality content + Squeeze page = list building power!

In essence, that ecourse is running on autopilot. It sits there, delivering value and building our list. We sell to that list, and it converts pretty well. Rock on!

The second investment I’ll mention here is a series of 3 ebooks we gave away for free more than a year ago.

These little ebooks contained a lot of affiliate links, but they were also high quality. Short, yes, but high quality.

Editor’s Note: Did you know that The Rhodes Brothers have an affiliate program?

Now, we expected a lot of affiliate sales. We expected the ebooks to go “viral” like crazy hot sausages. But…

They didn’t.

Don’t be shocked. If you expect instant success by spreading your digital goods all over the place, you’re in for a world of pain.

Look, this stuff takes time.

OK, so why do I mention these ebooks?  Two quick reasons. Many people have found our blog through those ebooks — even if they don’t buy, we get some traffic from work we did a long time ago. Second, we do make about 1-2 sales per week ($17-19) from them.

Don’t “poo poo” that amount. It’s about $1,000 per year when you do the math and add it up.

Building an empire takes a long time, for most people. What you do now can pay off long term. Plant those acorns. Plan for the growth.

Enjoy the oak trees!

Want to Sell Your eBook?

Posted on November 6th, 2007 in Advice, Affiliate Program, Clickbank, PLR Club, Really Simple Method, Reports, Simple, Strategies, Web Traffic | No Comments »

When you create an ebook, you want to know where to sell it. This blog entry will tell you exactly how to start selling today.

Two simple answers are that you can sell your product through Clickbank or PayPal. In the case of Clickbank, just visit, sign up, and follow the instructions. If you want to sell your ebook and get a (potentially huge) army of affiliates, this is a good option.

Sidebar: See how it works. Look at The Rhodes Brothers affiliate page to see the “other side” of the Clickbank equation. You could have something just like this to sell your ebook…

In the case of PayPal to sell your ebook, just create an account and then create Buy Now buttons. We make that very clear inside the Really Simple Method.  There’s a free video you can watch that shows you exactly what you need to do.

So, Clickbank and PayPal are effective but honestly, there are many other great places to sell your digital goods. If you’re a serious internet marketer then you need to learn all the places you can sell your ebook or report.

There are many market places you should learn about right now. Furthermore, even if you use Clickbank or PayPal, you need to know how to drive traffic.

You might also need to set up a web site. That means that you’ll want to think about domain names and hosting solutions (we love Bluehost).

Selling an ebook isn’t just about creating a great product, you need an infrastructure in place. You need to be prepared to drive traffic, get people signed up to your mailing list, and so on.

Let’s turn this into some really simple steps. If you want to sell your ebook, you should consider all of these steps. Don’t worry too much about following the exact order:

1. Find a thirsty market, with people willing to spend some money

2. Do some keyword research and find the right niche, or subniche

3. Create a product, or write an ebook to sell (re-write some PLR if you’re stuck)

4. Set up a web site so you can sell, use PayPal or Clickbank

5. Drive traffic to your sales page, enjoy the sales

Now, it really isn’t quite this simple but that is a very basic and effective recipe. There are also many other places to sell your ebook. Before long, you’ll want to start selling all over the place. With the right knowledge, that won’t be a problem. Your empire will grow.

By the way, if you need PLR, take a look at the Simple PLR Club. You can’t go wrong. You get 3 products each month and also a sales page for each product. It’s easy.

Will the New PayPal Buttons Destroy Your Conversion Rates?

Posted on November 2nd, 2007 in Advice, Really Simple Method | No Comments »

First, here’s what you need to know about PayPal’s new buttons.  This is *directly* from PayPal…

If PayPal hosts your buttons

You don’t have to do anything. All of your payment buttons will update to our new “sunrise” color automatically.

If you host your buttons

The new buttons are now available. Just click log in, click Merchant Services, and go to the Create Buttons section to get them.

Will this affect your business?

1. No. It won’t disrupt your ability to accept payments. And the new buttons are designed with the same dimensions as the old ones.

2. Plus, the new buttons on your site represent a consistent PayPal checkout experience – which makes buyers feel safer when they make purchases.

3. Preview the new buttons at https://www.paypal.com/newpaymentbuttons

Analysis

Let’s focus on #1 and #2. First, the dimensions are the same. That’s good for designers. You don’t have to worry about the size and shape of the buttons in terms of your page layout. So, I don’t really expect this to be an issue at all. The changes have almost nothing to do with your conversion rates.

Second, re: #2, PayPal is trying to make us feel good about the consistency, which is a good usability idea. They also play the “safety card” — it’s hard to argue against better security.

However, PayPal is leaving out something critical! For the most part, since PayPal usually hosts the buttons, the design of the buttons might impact your sales. They are changing the design and users might not like the design, or worse, they might not trust the new buttons.

Do we reallyknow how the new design will impact our sales conversion rates? Did PayPal just change the design to make it look good without any consideration about the very purpose of the buttons — sales?

I’m not deeply concerned, but I am concerned. Now I need to watch many of our sites and our conversion rates since the buttons have changed. We have to watch and see, and track the metrics. Don’t let PayPal run you over…

By the way, if you want to know how to create a PayPal button you can learn how to do it inside the Really Simply Method.  It’s a free course that clearly explains how to make money on the internet. Keep reading…
