<p>What is deliberate practice? Here&#8217;s the very short version:</p>

<p>He also makes a VERY good point&#8230;if you consistently follow through with the plan laid out in yesterday&#8217;s post, you&#8217;re going to have 300+ postings after one year. Google will LOVE you and you&#8217;ll be able to rank highly for just about any &#8220;long tail&#8221; keyword that you want.</p>
<p>(That means multiple streams of traffic to your site, more visitors and a lot more money.)</p>

So, you&#8217;ll have to suffer a little bit to get to the pot of gold. But, I will tell you this: You can get cheap highly scalable, reliable, fast, inexpensive data storage. </p>
<p>If that description above doesn&#8217;t make sense just think keep this in mind &#8212; <em>cheap audio and video storage</em>. If you want to reach a global audience with your media this is the way to do it. All of the internet marketing gurus are using this quietly, under the surface. It&#8217;s powerful stuff.</p>

I&#8217;ll talk about a very special opportunity from the Rhodes Brothers, but first I want to help you understand how these things work.</p>
<p>Being a part of a reseller program is a lot like being part of an an <a href="http://imsimple.com/internet-marketing-affiliate-programs/">internet marketing affiliate program</a>, but there are some very important differences. </p>
<p>As an affiliate you don&#8217;t have the level of control you have as a reseller. You also don&#8217;t have as good a rapport with the people behind the scenes. But the biggest difference is that <strong>affiliates only get a cut of the profits whereas resellers can make 100% of the money</strong>.</p>
<p>(Note: <a href="http://10xmethod.com/secretlink.php">10x Method affiliates</a> make 100% but that is very unusual.)</p>
<p>Affiliates don&#8217;t usually pay anything. An affiliate just hands out their link to people and they hope for a sale. In contrast, <strong>the best reseller programs hand over more of the profit to their partners</strong>. They make their money by asking for a <em>flat fee for the right to sell</em>.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take an example of an affiliate program and a reseller program. Pretend the product cost to end customers is $20. An affiliate might be able to make 50% of the sale, or $10. If there is a sale, they make that money and that&#8217;s all there is to it.</p>
<p>In contrast, a reseller might pay $100 per month for the right to resell that same product. That doesn&#8217;t sound too good at first, right? But consider that the reseller can make 100% of the sale, on every sale. They become a reseller with that in mind: They earn $20 for every sale. It&#8217;s all profit.</p>
<p><strong>Which is better, affiliate marketing or being a product reseller?</strong> Just do the math using the scenario above. If you make 5 sales as an affiliate you will make $50. But as a reseller, you&#8217;d lose $50. That doesn&#8217;t sound too good at all.</p>
<p>But wait, let&#8217;s imagine 10 sales. The affiliate marketer would generate $100 but the reseller would earn $100 too. That&#8217;s not too bad. It gets better with more sales.<br />
<em><br />
How much better?</em></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s really show where reselling opportunities make sense. If there are 20 sales, an affiliate would generate $200. However, the reseller would generate $350. </p>
<p>Affiliates always get a cut so they do well with low sales. But, <strong>resellers do much better as sales increase</strong>. They&#8217;re pulling down 100% of the profit and it doesn&#8217;t too long to break even and do substantially better than affiliate marketers. </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong. Affiliate marketing is fantastic but many internet marketers are making a bundle by being resellers. <em>I hope you see why becoming a reseller can be very rewarding</em>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>John and I recently got a chance to do a brief interview with Linda Jorgensen of The Editorial Eye. If you haven&#8217;t heard of it, it&#8217;s a newsletter that focuses on generating great content. The thing most special about it, however, is that the Eye went through a transition from being a print-only newsletter to an online-only newsletter.</p>
<p>Linda is going to be talking about some of her strategies at <a href="http://www.sherpastore.com/SellingSubscriptions2008.html?9641">MarketingSherpa&#8217;s 8th Annual Selling Online Subscriptions Summit</a>, on May 12-13th in New York. It&#8217;s undoubtedily going to be a great event&#8230;</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the interview&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Q: Can you tell us a bit about The Editorial Eye? What sort of content is delivered?<br />
</strong><br />
For 30 years, the Eye has been a newsletter â€œfocusing on publications standards and practices,â€ as the tagline used to read. It was begun by the founder of EEI Communications as a beacon for those committed to and seeking guidance for producing clear communicationsâ€”and thatâ€™s still our core mission. Now the tagline is â€œhelping you put your best content forward.â€</p>
<p>The â€œyouâ€ is professional content creators in every imaginable niche, in print and online, plus a broad range of presentation and production specialists: editors, writers, designers, production coordinators,Â  people-manager, project-managers, trainers. We publish between 8 and 10 articles that recommend and describe practices that are beneficial for readers and cost-effective for publishers.</p>
<p>Our â€œInfernal Englishâ€ column parses common writing problems and looks at evolving standards of English usage. We track the influence of the Web on reader expectations, the future of old-media formats, and common-sense, reader-centric approaches to information delivery. â€œThe Watchful Eyeâ€ analyzes trends in working relationships and industry standards and reports on new resources and readability-related research. Our three most popular features are probably the â€œTest Yourselfâ€ skill-building exercises, â€œBlack Eyesâ€ (published bloopers), and â€œThe Right Word.â€</p>
<p><strong>Q: From what we understand. The Editorial Eye began as a printed newsletter and was transitioned into an electronic newsletter. Can you briefly outline some of the marketing changes that took place as a result of this transition? And, why the change in the first place?</strong></p>
<p>A: It was a business decisionâ€”but also a decision based on our new corporate focus on multimedia publishing. John Oâ€™Brien, EEI Communicationsâ€™ VP of business development, will be speaking about the management side if the decision.</p>
<p>The Eye had been well-loved and widely read over the years by thousands, and itâ€™s a brand that has brought the publisher, EEI Communications, publishing clients and training students over the years. But cost of printing and mailing the paper edition, and using direct mail to acquire new readers, was no longer an option as we invested in other operations, like our training division.</p>
<p>Because we wanted to leverage the loyalty and goodwill subscribers representedâ€”we have a 70 percent renewal rate, on averageâ€”our CEO, Jim deGraffenreid, decided in October 2007 that we should reinvent the Eye as an online publication, in two stages. We would deliver issues as PDFs from January to March 2008, and in April launch a fully Web-based, magazine-style publication.</p>
<p>This meant we had two months to educate our customers, get e-mail addresses for all of them, and design and program a landing page for retrieving issues. Instead of just sending people to a login page, we wanted to give then a place to comeâ€”a sense of communityâ€”as well as a place to provide public content that would attract prospects. Up till now, we had had a sampler of free articles online that a lot of universities had permanent links to, but it was taken for granted as freeâ€”and did not lead to many new subs. (When it went dark in favor of a smaller, more marketing-pegged sampler, we heard some howling. People surely do love â€œtheirâ€ free content!)</p>
<p>We marketed the transition to readers primarily in the newsletter itself about how to access content online, and explained additional benefits theyâ€™d be getting. The landing page would also house other subscriber-only content, like excerpts from EEI Press reference books. We planned to start a blog to attract new subscribers. We also programmed online account management tools (for renewals and address corrections, and for adding copies) as well as a public section for a selection of free articles that new and potential subscribers could access.Â  In effect, we created a subscribers-only and prospectsâ€“also sections. But we designed an interface that made it clear this was all about contentâ€”with marketing always in the background.</p>
<p>We created an e-mail-based password-protected system of access for the PDFs and wrote restrictive terms of use that made purchasing additional copies or a site licenseâ€”both at deep discountsâ€”the only way to distribute additional electronic copiesâ€”though people could still print out the â€œdesignedâ€ edition.</p>
<p>We inserted a canary-yellow flier in December 2007 that reminded people they would not get the January issue if we didnâ€™t have their current e-mail addresses. And we worked with subscription agencies to get that updated info. Still, we published the January issue without about 30 percent of the e-mail addresses we needed.</p>
<p>Each e-mail alert we sent with the new issue contained access instructions and spoke about the ongoing transition to the April edition.Â  Guess what? A lot of peopleâ€”even â€œword peopleâ€â€™â€”donâ€™t read e-mail alerts. Weâ€™ve done a lot of hand-holding, troubleshooting, complaint-fielding, and relationship marketing for six months. But the first piece of feedback we got on the April 2008 edition was â€œWow!â€</p>
<p>And our renewal rate has stabilized at 60 percent, and weâ€™re getting new subs all the time from TheEditorialEye.com being picked up by the search engines.</p>
<p><strong>Q: Marketing online, especially to obtain paid subscribers, is far different than marketing offline. So, how do you plan to find new subscribers online?</strong></p>
<p>By teasing them in the Eyeâ€“sponsored â€œContent Forwardâ€ blog with organic references to articles in past issues and in tegh public sampler. By offering a complete recent issue online, embedded with a marketing message and offer of free issues for a subscription. That has already led to new subs coming through our online order form, which is the only place weâ€™re offering a four-issue paid â€œtrial subscription.â€ Weâ€™re working by e-mail and telephone follow-up to convert these to full subs with a premium.</p>
<p><strong>Q: We&#8217;re also sure the transition to an electronic newsletter resulted in some unhappy customers. How much attrition resulted from the transition? What did you do to persuade active subscribers that digital content is superior?</strong></p>
<p>A: We probably lost and still do not have current e-mail addresses for (and so cannot renew) about 25 percent of our base. I persuade my readers with an even broader range of topical coverage and new authors in every issue. I remind them in e-mail alerts that theyâ€™re getting more content for the same money (which they are) and getting it (1) more quickly than they did by paperÂ  mail, (2) more economically if theyâ€™re non-US subscribers, who now donâ€™t pay a postal surcharge, and (3) adding copies for individual electronic access costs less than adding paper copies ever did.Â  Iâ€™m also about to roll out premiums for early renewals.</p>

Really, it&#8217;s very exciting &#8212; that is, it&#8217;s exciting if you know what you&#8217;re doing like we do. If you don&#8217;t know what you&#8217;re doing, it&#8217;s painful and frustrating.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to eliminate the pain right now&#8230;</p>
<p>Niche research is simple. If you&#8217;re just getting started, simply do some Google searches. This sounds so basic, but I&#8217;ll tell you &#8212; it works. Do a search using keywords that make sense to you. See how many web sites show up. Look at the number of results. This gives you an idea about the &#8220;supply&#8221; of content in your niche.</p>
<p>However, all commerce is based on supply AND demand. So, you need an simple way to figure out how much people are demanding that content. How&#8217;s this possible?</p>
<p>Hey, it&#8217;s simple. Head over to <a href="http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/">Free Keyword Suggestion Tool</a>.Â  Do a search and you&#8217;ll get more results. You&#8217;ll know how many people are trying to find answers. You&#8217;ll know the demand for keywords, which is magic.</p>
<p>So, now you simple take the Google results and divide by the Free Keyword results. That is, you divide supply by demand. This number is your starting point. It&#8217;s very simple math. No worries! And, conceptually, it&#8217;s really simple. You&#8217;re just using basic princples of economics that pretty much anyone can understand. Supply and demand.</p>
<p>Now all you need to do is do more searches and compare the numbers you&#8217;re getting in relation to supply and demand. Before you know it, you&#8217;ll find some perfect keywords. That means you&#8217;ll have your niche in very little time. You have to love this ultra simple technique for finding niches.</p>
<p>But how do you make money from niches? Again, this is pretty simple. Head over to Clickbank and find products that fit your niche. It&#8217;s dead simple. Head there, do some searches and find affiliate products to promote. <p>There&#8217;s a new Web 2.0 on the block&#8230;and my bet is that<strong> it will be as big as Stumbleupon and almost definitely bigger than Twitter.</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s called <a href="http://www.qassia.com">Qassia</a>. I&#8217;ve been thinking about it since I discovered it yesterday and I think it can be best described as a peer-edited article directory. It won&#8217;t appear that way exactly to the public&#8230;but more or less, that&#8217;s what it amounts to. Take a look at the main page:</p>

<p>It looks like Qassia is designed to be an article directory and search engine hybrid. There are no categories to classify the material at the current time, but it seems like a vast majority of the content submitted by people so far is somewhat mass appeal (and also interesting). Here&#8217;s a glance at some of the &#8220;intel&#8221; (Qassia&#8217;s name for articles) recently contributed:</p>

<p>At the bottom of every &#8220;intel&#8221; you submit is the ability to put in &#8220;external links&#8221;..it gives links to your website as a bio box does, but you don&#8217;t have the ability to put in any information about your website or yourself &#8211; the &#8220;bio box&#8221; just consists of links.</p>
<p>So far, it just sounds like an average article directory&#8230;but here&#8217;s where it gets interesting.</p>
<p>For every piece of intel you submit or rate as a peer-editor, you get Qassia dollars&#8230;as of this article, I have <strong>$22,560</strong>. No, it&#8217;s not &#8220;real&#8221; money&#8230;but it serves the purpose of <strong>promoting your website and driving you traffic.</strong></p>
<p>The content you submit does NOT have to be unique, as long as you somehow have rights to it. They prefer unique content and give more Qassia dollars for it &#8211; but you can submit intel that you simply own private label rights to and easily rack up dollars</p>
<p>At the current time it doesn&#8217;t look like you &#8220;spend&#8221; your Qassia dollars &#8211; it&#8217;s just there to calculate your net worth. <strong>The higher your net worth, the more exposure you&#8217;re going get on Qassia</strong>, so they explain &#8211; plus you&#8217;ll get backlinks and additional traffic from submitting intel, so there&#8217;s really no reason to not try to rack up as much as you can.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re in the top 50 of all the top contributors to Qassia, you get to be in the &#8220;Top 50&#8243; column on the left hand side&#8230;home page backlink from a <strong>PR 4 website</strong>, anyone? (And page rank is bound to increase as the site becomes more popular&#8230;)</p>

3.) Find comments from other blogs and use trackbacks<br />
4.) Ping it with <a href="http://pingomatic.com">Pingomatic.com</a> (no affiliation)<br />
5.) Post comments on other blogs<br />
6.) Join blog communities and blog carnivals &#8211; a simple Google search will bring up many.<br />
7.) Make a <a href="http://squidoo.com">Squidoo</a> Lens based on long tail keywords.<br />
8.) Post videos on YouTube with a link to your squeeze page, or another &#8220;pre-sales&#8221; page.<br />

15.) Create a brandable, short report that your affiliates can use to distribute your product.<br />
16.) Hit up big names in your niche and ask them if they&#8217;ll promote your squeeze page in return for high backend profits.<br />
17.) Create a free video and then redirect it to your squeeze page at the end. Encourage your affiliates to link to the video.<br />
18.) Join a giveaway. Give away a high quality free product on one of these giveaways and you&#8217;ll have a list that will believe in the quality that you give.<br />

24.) Write a press release about sites you release that pre-sell your squeeze page, and maybe even your squeeze page itself.<br />
25.) Answer questions on Yahoo Answers related to your niche, linking to your pre-sales pages or your squeeze page.<br />
26.) Interview well-known people in your niche. They will likely link to the interview, and it will earn you more prestige.<br />
27.) Try to link to your blog from Wikihow and Wikipedia&#8230;but be sure your links actually provide value.<br />
28.) Submit your &#8220;pre-sales&#8221; sites to directories such as <a href="http://dmoz.org">dmoz.org</a>.<br />
29.) Post ads on Craigslist for your pre-sales page.<br />
30.) Create classified ads on <a href="http://usfreeads.com">USFreeAds</a>.<br />
31.) Create low cost eBay products and when people purchase, have them opt-in to your list for a bonus.</p>
<p>&#8230;Of course there&#8217;s a lot more, but this list should show you there&#8217;s an almost infinite ways to drive traffic. The key to remember is that doing a single thing on this list won&#8217;t contribute much..but by mixing and matching all of the possible ways to generate traffic, your squeeze page will turn into a list building machine.</p>
